This morning I listened to a Zen talk. The speaker’s question was “How do you feel?”
I start off answering that I feel sad but quickly it gets more complicated.

So, last Sunday night, I’m sitting in urgent care for the second time in a week, waiting to see the doctor.
He walks in, holding some pictures, looks at me for one second too long for comfort and then sits down.
“I think you have cancer,” he said.

Urgent Care

Pneumonia.
I’d been trying to ignore my symptoms for a couple of weeks: lack of energy, no creativity, a pain under my wing when I coughed. Then my teeth started to ache and I called the dentist, imagining abscesses and root canals. He proclaimed my teeth just fine but maybe my sinuses weren’t?
Who knew that we have sinuses in our gums?
